How to Add Music to a Snap, Snapchat Story & Video ?

The rising popularity : The world of social media has been witnessing growth for the past few years. One amongst those who have taken full opportunity of these times is Snapchat. One of the firsts to have released the unique feature of stories on the profile, the platform never shies away from releasing something out that adds value to the end-users.

One of the recent additions to the list is adding music into snaps, stories, and Snapchat videos. Though the feature was rolled out much earlier in Instagram and a few of the competitor apps, Snapchat finally decided to make the move and released the same within the iOS platform.

Thus, in the blog of the day, we would be discussing further on doing so to make the Snapchat content more lively and interactive.

A deeper insight on Adding Music Feature on Snapchat

The music feature of Snapchat is called Sounds. As per this, the users can add music to their content only from the licensed sources (i.e. with whom Snapchat developers have signed MoU). In future updates, the list is also to be extended to more music apps and even the Android users would be gaining the advantage of enjoying the feature.

With the addition of music to the Snap, the viewers can easily swipe it to know more about the artist, album, and song title. Hence it would be an organic promotion for the budding artists aiming to create a breakthrough in the market.

The apps with whom the MoU has been signed include the following:

  • Warner Music Group
  • Merlin
  • NMPA
  • Universal Music Group
  • Warner Chappell Music
  • Kobalt
  • BMG Music Publishing

Add Music to Snapchat Stories & Videos on iOS

Since the feature has been officially rolled out in iOS devices, thus the first part needs to be given to these users. Follow the steps given below to execute the process:

  1. Launch Snapchat on your iOS device and go to the tool for creating new snaps or stories.
  2. Hit on the Musical note icon at the right side of the screen.
  3. A list of songs would pop out in the next menu that can be related well to your intended Snap. Listen to those and pick up the one that feels most suitable to you.
  4. Hit on the Next option at the bottom of the screen.
  5. Confirm the changes and finally hit on Post.

Thus, your Snap or story gets uploaded with the background music. Even, when anyone in your contacts posts such stories, you can view the sticker with the music title and artist name (somewhat similar to the type found on Instagram). You can easily swipe it to know further and then listen to other apps like Spotify, Apple Music to name a few.

Ray of hope for Android users

Android users, please do not worry as the feature is already under pipeline from the Snapchat developers and would be rolling out soon to you. As an alternative, you can always select to share some music from Spotify as your Snapchat story.

Just launch the Spotify app and go to the music that you were listening to. Tap on the three vertical lines at the top right corner of the screen and select Share. It would pop up the option to share the music on Snapchat also.

As an addition, you can also add certain stickers with it to give more personalized touches to the content shared by you.

With this, we conclude on the ways of adding music to Snapchat content. Let us know of your queries or suggestions in the comments section and they would get answered as soon as possible.
