Opera, the well-known web browser company is announcing the addition of new AI-powered features in the desktop versions of its browser, Opera as well as Opera GX.
These new functions include AI prompts and access to the sidebar for ChatGPT and ChatSonic and are designed to improve the user’s browsing experience.
Its AI Prompts feature helps users summarize or clarify a lengthy and complex text, be it an entire paragraph, article or even a web page. Users can access it by simply highlighting the text, or directly via in the address bar.
Additionally, web-based version of ChatGPT and ChatSonic are now accessible within the right-hand sidebar in Opera. These tools can be used to create reports, summaries and itineraries as well as ideas. Users can also learn to play music and write code, receive assistance with maths, create drafts and much many more.
Opera claims that the new AI-powered features will provide more personalized and intelligent web experience that is tailored to the user’s requirements and preferences. Opera plans to roll out further AI-powered features in future using its GPT-based model.
As per Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI which is a Microsoft-backed research lab that developed ChatGPT, AI technology has the potential to fundamentally alter our lives however, it also poses serious risks.
Although AI chatbots may “eliminate many of the current jobs” they could also become “the most advanced technology that humanity has yet created” to enhance our lives. Altman highlighted the need to be cautious when it comes to AI advancement and also acknowledged that technology has influenced education in the past, for instance when calculators were introduced.
