3 Ways to Track someone’s location through Facebook messenger
Like many other messenger apps, Facebook messenger allows you to share your live location with a friend or family. If you are out running some errands and want someone to keep a watch on your location, you can share the live location with them from the app. This also makes meeting up with friends quite easy, as you can let them know about your precise location by sharing the same.
To do this, make sure that you are logged in through the Facebook messenger app. Now, open the chat box of the person you want to share your location with. Locate the 4 dots icon which is situated at the bottom left corner of your screen and click. You will be presented with an option that says “location”. In the next page, click on “share live location” and your current location will be shared with the person.
The best part about the live location feature is, even if you move from your current location, your peer will be informed of your updated location. After the purpose of the live location is fulfilled, you can press the end button.
Facebook Tags
Facebook hashtags is another utilitarian way to track the location of a person. Since hashtags are widely used by people on Facebook, keeping a tab on someone’s location can be easy if they have uploaded the relevant tags. For this, type the location tab on the search bar of the Facebook.
If the person you are tracking has posted the location tag, you can click on it and press “show location”. This action will automatically open the google maps, if you have enabled it on your device, and the precise location of the person will be displayed on the screen. This method works only if the person you wish to track has enabled their location and posted a location tag.
Also, if the person moves from their current location, you will not be informed about the same like in case of live location, unless the person uploads their updated location on Facebook.
Tracking nearby friends
You must have noticed an option that says “nearby friends” every time you open the menu of Facebook. This tab allows you to know the location of all the friends who are currently near your own location. This function will work only if your peer has enabled their phone’s location feature and you have done the same as well.
To track someone using this feature, log into your Facebook account. Open the menu by tapping the three vertical line symbol situated at the top right corner of the screen. Locate the tab that says “nearby friends”. You will be given an option to share your live location with your peers.
You might have to enable the location feature of your phone if it was hitherto disabled. Once you have done that, you will be able to see the list of all the peers that have enabled their locations through Facebook. You can ping your friends and arrange a meeting if need be.

The location tracking feature of the Facebook messenger has made hanging out with peers abundantly easy.
